GANADO ACCOUNTING STUDENT ADVANCES TO STATE - TJ Biehle earned the right to advance to the State UIL Academic Meet by placing 2nd overall at the Region IV UIL Academic Meet!  Our Number Sense team also placed 5th at this meet.

MAIDEN GOLFERS ADVANCE TO STATE – In a dramatic three-team playoff after 36 holes of golf, the Ganado Maidens came back from 5th place and 18 strokes down on day one, to earn 2nd place at the 1A Region IV Tournament.  They now go to the 1A Texas Golf State Tournament in Austin.  Entering the 13-team field against the best in Region IV, the Maidens were just looking to have fun and play well.  Coach Grewe, who has taken many golfers to state, knew they were capable of doing much more.  It turned out he was right.  They ended regulation tied with Port Aransas and Yorktown.  After the first playoff, Port Aransas had earned a trip to State.  After the 2nd playoffs, Ganado held off Yorktown to advance.  The Maidens finished the tournament; Ashley Tegeler, jr. 106, 99; Shelley Stancik, sr. 110, 105; Jay Salazar, jr. 123, 109; Leah Staff, fr. 116, 117.

INDIAN GOLFER ADVANCES TO STATE AND TEAM PLACED 4th– Jacob George, senior, will be advancing to the 1A State Golf Tournament in Austin on the back of his two day total of 158 strokes (76, 82), which was good enough to place 2nd in the entire Region IV UIL Golf Tournament.  The Indian Golf Team, led by George, played well overall at the State Region IV Golf Tournament in Brenham.  They placed 4th out of 16 teams that had advanced to the Regional level.  The top two teams advance to the State Tournament, so they just missed getting to go.  The other final scores were; Andrew Lozano, so. 85, 83; Nathan Black, jr. 91, 88; Curtis Cox, jr. 100, 108; Will Egg, jr. 110, 109.

Congratulations to the Band as they performed at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading in Industrial.  They presented a fantastic performance of their three Concert selections, and then they advanced to the Sight Reading Portion where they played a piece of music they had never seen before and earned a perfect rating from all three judges.  Great Job to the Band and their Directors Patrick Flaniken and Kendra Early.  Congratulations Band.

Congratulations to the Ganado ISD Academic UIL Competitors.  There will be nine students advancing to the Regional Competition on April 24th in Brenham, with competitors in Numbers Sense, Debate, and Computers.  Good Luck to these Students and Sponsors.

Congratulations to the Golf Teams as they both advance to the Regional Tournament (one step away from State).  The Girl's Team was led by Ashley Tegeler who placed 2nd, Shelly Stancik who placed 4th and Leah Staff who placed 6th.  The Boy's Team was led by Nathan Black who placed 3rd, Jacob George who placed 8th, and Andrew Lozano who placed 12th.  Both teams will be competing in Brenham on April 20 & 21.  Congratulations to Coach Grewe and the students and best of luck at the Regional Tournament.

Congratulations to the Track Team.  They are sending six boys and five girls to the Area Track Meet (one step away from State) in Flatonia on April 16.  Congratulations to the Coach Bagby and Coach Nastoupil and the students and best of luck at the Regional Track Meet.

Congratulation to the One Act Play Cast, Crew, and Directors. They advanced from the first round with their performance of "Her Senior Year" and earned the alternate (3rd place) in Round 2 against five other advancing plays.  Megan Knowlton earned Best Actress Honors in Round 1 and All-Star Cast in Round 2.  Stormi White earned All-Star Cast Honors in Round 1 and Honorable Mention in Round 2, and Elise Lauderdale, Curt Lindsey, and Shelby Macha earned Honorable Mention All-Star Cast in Round 1 with Elise Lauderdale also earning Honorable Mention in Round 2.  We are very proud of how these students and Directors, Melissa Fowler, Jonel Knuppel, and Jana Johnson, represented Ganado ISD and we Congratulate them all.  They will have a public performance on April 14 at 7:00 pm.

The Ganado Indians finished their Fabulous 2008 season as Semi-Final Qualifiers which puts them as one of the top four teams in the State in 1A Div II and one of only 40 teams (top 4%) out of 1,030 teams in the state to reach that level in the playoffs.  They played hard and represented Ganado ISD in a fantastic way that made the community, district, and entire Region very proud of them.  Thank You and Congratulations to the INDIANS for a Wonderful Season!

Good Sportsmanship - The Ganado ISD School Board and Administration encourages and expects everyone who attends a Ganado ISD event, either at home or away, to support and cheer for their team and representatives and to enjoy the skill and competition.  School competition is a learning experience and mistakes will happen.   Learning from mistakes is part of the process, and the spectators are expected to praise the student-athletes, their leaders, and the officials for their commitment and efforts.  All spectators should be aware that observing any Ganado ISD event is a privilege that can and will be revoked if any spectator exhibits unsportsmanlike behavior, which includes, but is not limited to criticizing students, their leaders, or officials.  In addition, spectators who exhibit poor sportsmanship may be prohibited from attending future events.  We hope to make these events a positive experience for the students and fans with everyone providing a model of good sportsmanship for others to follow.
