  • The Ganado Independent School District Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Brian McCraw as Superintendent of Schools in August of 2022. Dr. McCraw was previously the High School Principal at Shiner ISD as well as time spent at Rocksprings ISD in the same role. Dr. McCraw also spent over 12 years as a corporate executive with three different Fortune 500 companies in various leadership positions, including human resources, public relations, fiscal management, and facilities acquisition. 

    Born in Lake Jackson, Texas, Dr. McCraw graduated from Hardin Jefferson High School and Lamar University before starting his teaching career in 1995 at Hardin Jefferson ISD.  

    Dr. McCraw received his Master’s in Education from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas in 2001 and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas in 2022. Dr. McCraw is a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators, the Texas Association of Rural Schools, the Texas Association of Community Schools, and the Texas Association of School Boards.     

    Dr. McCraw is focused on creating and facilitating systems that focus on student engagement through positive relationships and the design of meaningful learning experiences. As the child of a public school educator, Dr. McCraw holds true to the belief that public schools are the foundation of our constitutional republic, and that it is our responsibility to look beyond state test scores to the talents, hopes, and dreams of every child. He is honored to serve Ganado ISD as Superintendent of Schools.

    He and his wife, Lisa, have four children: their daughter Sidney, who is a graduate of Texas State University and a practicing Respiratory Therapist, Kelsey, a graduate of Texas A&M University who is employed with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Brett, a graduate of Texas A&M University who is working on his PhD at The University of North Texas, and Ryan, who is currently a senior at Texas State.
